On this SWFL Honor Flight Mission XXIII, I was given a very special assignment — to take a fallen veteran with me in spirit. His daughter had hoped he could experience the Honor Flight himself, but he passed away before that day came. She asked me to carry his photo with me so he could still make the journey to Washington, D.C.
At each memorial, I made sure he was there — standing proudly in front of the monuments built to honor his service and sacrifice. It was a privilege to bring him along, to let him “see” what so many of us were blessed to see in person.
To his daughter, thank you for entrusting me with this sacred honor. And to this hero — thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your memory that lives on. 🇺🇸✨
